Blessing for IBC Breakfast February 23, 2019

We just had Valentine’s Day. Most of us have also expressed love for our beloved groundhog for a short winter! Let’s continue loving throughout the year.

Let us pray.

Father in Heaven, we thank you for giving us a safe and warm place to gather. Bless our time as we break bread with each other and share our lives and love.

We ask your healing for those of us who need it. We also ask your comfort on those who need comforting. Bless those who were unable to join us this morning.

Please bless the food we are about to eat. We also ask you to bless those who are preparing and serving our breakfast.

We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus.

Amen.

We celebrate miracles this month.

Our Jewish friends are celebrating the miracle of a single day’s supply of lamp oil used in the rededication of the temple in Jerusalem lasting eight days.

We celebrate the miraculous birth of our Savior Jesus.

This season is much more than trees, lights and gifts.  This season is the miracle of God’s Love made manifest here on earth.

Let us pray.

Father in heaven, we thank you for all you provide for us: for this safe and warm place to gather; for friendships, both new and old; for your miracles and healing among us; for life itself; for Love.

Father, we ask you for healing miracles among our classmates, teachers and their families who need them and also for comfort for those whose loved ones are now in your hands.

Please bless all of us here as we break bread and share our lives and love with each other. Grant travel mercies to all those who will be traveling this month. Also bless those who were not able to be here with us today.

Please bless the food were are about to share. Bless those who prepare and serve it to us.

Also please bless those who will be blessed by us with a meal through our annual INTERBORO BUCS gifts.

We ask all of these things in the name of your Son, Jesus.

Amen

Thanksgiving is a day for giving thanks to our Creator for what He has provided for us, but we shouldn’t limit it to one day – gives thanks every day because we never know when we could have everything taken from us.

My close friend, Pastor Stan Freitas just finished building a larger worship hall extension to his church building. A few days later Stan and his wife Tracy lost their home, all their possessions and the church building in the Camp fire in Paradise. The only thing left was a rock and a wooden cross that was part of the exterior structure. The cross had “Love God, Love People” written on it.

Marianne and Walt Hall were vacationing in Jamaica. Our classmate Walt is now in the hands of our Lord, gone from this earth.

Let us give thanks.

Father in Heaven,

We thank you for all we have. We thank you for our classmates, significant others and friends. We thank you for life itself.

We thank you for today, as tomorrow is not guaranteed.

We ask you to wrap your arms of lovingkindness around Marianne Hall and her family and comfort them during their time of need. Also, continue to comfort the families of those classmates who are now in your hands.

Please comfort all those who have lost all due to the fires in northern and southern California.

Lord, we ask you to provide healing and comfort for all our classmates and teachers that are in need.

Please bless the classmates who were not able to make it here.

We thank you for this place to gather and share our love and lives with each other.

Please bless the food we are about to eat and those who prepare and serve it.

We thank you in the name of your son, Jesus.

Amen

When I was in California, every time it reached 60 degrees we turned up the heat to 80 and put on our thermal coats. The past few days have been brutal, but at least I can warm up with some Scrapple.

Let us pray.

Father in heaven,

We thank you for a warm, safe place where we can gather and be together, sharing our lives and friendship.

Please bless all who are here and also those who were unable to attend.

We ask you to heal all those who need healing and comfort those who need to be comforted.

Please bless the food we are about to eat as well as those who prepare and serve it to us.

We ask you to nourish our spirits as well as our bodies with this breakfast.

We ask all of this in the name of your Son, Jesus.

Amen
