Blessing for IBC Breakfast January 20, 2018

It’s a new year! Time for a fresh start!

If we are kind to everyone, we can put a smile on their faces, and ours.

Let us pray.

Father in heaven, we thank you for having a safe place to gather, break bread together and share our love and lives with each other.

We ask you to heal all our classmates who are battling innumerable problems and to wrap your arms of lovingkindness around all and comfort them. We especially hold up to you our classmate Dusty Rhodes who needs your help and comfort.

Lord, we ask you to protect all of us from the flu epidemic, limit its spread and heal those of our class who have it.

Please bless our time together. We also ask you to bless the food that we are about to have and those who are preparing and serving it.

We ask all of these things in the name of your Son, Jesus.

And everyone says – AMEN!

Blessing for IBC Breakfast December 16, 2017

Interboro BucksAgain, we share our love through the gift of Interboro BUCS to bless a few families with breakfast this morning.

We celebrate miracles this month.

Our Jewish friends are celebrating the miracle of a single day’s supply of lamp oil used in the rededication of the temple in Jerusalem lasting eight days.

We celebrate the miraculous birth of Jesus.

This season is much more than trees, lights and gifts.  This season is the miracle of God’s Love made manifest.

Let us pray.

Father in heaven, we thank you for all you provide for us: for this safe and warm place to gather; for friendships, both new and old; for your miracles and healing among us; for life itself; for Love.

Father, we ask you for healing miracles among our classmates and their families who need them.

Please bless all of us here as we break bread and share our love with each other. Grant travel mercies to all those who will be traveling this month. Also bless those who were not able to be here with us today.

Please bless the food were are about to share. Bless those who prepare and serve it to us.

We ask all of these things in the name of your Son, Jesus.

And those here say – AMEN!

The Hairs On Your Head

This sermon was suggested by my good friend Kendra a couple of years ago. I promised her I would deliver the sermon.

The following invite was sent out:

You are cordially invited to a Hairy Sermon on the Wednesday (November 29, 2017) evening at the Midweek Service at the Highway Palo Alto Community in Christ campus. Food is served at 6:30 followed by the sermon and prayer.

This long-overdue, 2-years in the making sermon surpasses Samson’s troubles. Even the hair-raising between Jacob and Esau pales by comparison! Furthermore, this sermon features a cast of hundreds of millions.

Join me if you can. If you can’t, I will be posting the sermon sometime this weekend on the Worship Jam web site. Email me and I will send you the link.

God bless,

Fred

(I made angel hair pasta with a butter, garlic and herb sauce to go with the sermon.)

Here is the sermon: Continue reading The Hairs On Your Head

Blessing for IBC Breakfast October 21, 2017

October is usually a scary month as children and adults prepare for Halloween parties and celebrations. I remember as a kid when my dad made a ghost and ran a cable down the stairs to the front door. A quick pull on the release string, and the ghost would appear out of the darkness and rush down the stairs to the unsuspecting kids and adults. That was the cardio-exercise for those times.

Let us pray.

Father in heaven, we pause for a moment to ask for your comfort for all those affected and truly scared by the natural and man-made disasters that have recently happened.

We ask for your blessing for everyone here and those who are unable to attend. Please provide your healing for all those who may need it, both physically and spiritually.

Lord, please bless the food we are about to eat and those who are preparing and serving it.

We thank you for providing a safe place to meet as we break bread and share our lives, love and some fun and maybe scary times with each other.

We thank you in the name of your Son, Jesus.

Amen.
