Blessing for IBC Breakfast August 18, 2018

Let us pray.

Father, we are so grateful for all you have given us. We thank you for the precious lives you have given us.

Thank you for providing us with this place and time to gather and share our lives and love with each other.

Lord, please bless all of our classmates, teachers and friends who were unable to be here with us and heal all those who are suffering.

Please bless the food, both physical and spiritual, you have provided for us.

Please bless the people who are preparing our food and those who are serving us today.

We ask all of this in the name of your Son, Jesus.

Amen.

A blast from the past – one year ago:

I thank you for those who are having Scrapple for me this morning as I prepare for the best substitute I have here in California: a fried SPAM sandwich. I love you all!

Now I get to have some with you all, provided John Atkinson didn’t order the last piece.

Blessing for IBC Breakfast July 21, 2018

July is the month where we celebrate our independence and freedom.

Let us pray.

Father in heaven,

Thank you for giving us the freedom to freely meet as we wish; to safely gather together to share our lives without fear.

We ask you to bless all those who were not able to join us and also ask you to provide healing and comfort for those who need it. Please comfort and strengthen those of us who have lost family members, classmates and friends.

Bless this time as we break bread together and share our love

Please bless the food and those who are preparing and serving it.

We ask this in the name of your Son Jesus.

Amen.

Blessing for IBC Breakfast June 16, 2018

Hello IBCers!

Greetings from Mountain View California!

The cat’s probably out of the bag by now, but in case you haven’t heard, I will probably be delivering the July IBC Breakfast blessing in person. AND, God willing, joining everyone for the world-renown IBC Picnic!

Yes, after 40 years in California’s Silicon Valley, I will be returning to my roots in the Interboro area. It will be great to see you all again!

Let us pray.

Father in heaven,

Thank you for providing a place and time for us to meet and share our love and lives with each other.

Thank you for the food we are about to receive.

We ask you to bless all those who were not able to join us and also ask you to provide healing and comfort for those who need it.

Please bless the food and those who are preparing and serving it.

We ask this in the name of your Son Jesus.

Amen.

Blessing for IBC Breakfast May 19, 2018

John quotes Jesus telling the apostles that everyone will know they are disciples by the love they show for each other.

Since the start of IBC, I have been amazed at the love we have shown for each other:

  • Through thick and thin.
  • Through times of happiness and sadness.
  • Through differences of opinions.
  • Even through whether you love Scrapple or not, and that’s a big hurdle.

Through all of these things and more, we in the IBC family have stood by each other and showed our love for each other.

We have unconditionally shared our hearts and our lives with each other. We have prayed for each other.

People do notice that we have a bond with each other as members of the Interboro Breakfast Club.

Let us pray,

Father in heaven, we thank you for all of us being here to share our love.

And Lord, I personally thank you for making it possible to be here today.

Thank you for a place where we can gather and break bread with each other.

Please bless those classmates who are unable to be here today.

Please bless our family members who have had members of their families leave this life to join You in heaven.

Please grant travel mercies for those who are on the road.

We also ask that you heal and comfort those of us who may be suffering, whether we see it or not.

Please bless the food you have provided for us and the people who are preparing and serving it.

We ask all of this in the name of your Son, Jesus.

Amen

Blessing for IBC Breakfast April 21, 2018

It’s April and time for Spring where the rain (and not snow) is supposed to usher in warmth in order to bring the flowers in May. We need to see the birds and squirrels frolicking in the trees. We should be sitting out in the sun soaking up the rays maybe with a beverage in our hand and possibly accompanied by one of those tiny umbrellas.

Maybe we’ll have an outside breakfast of freshly picked eggs escorted by farm-raised Scrapple and piping hot coffee. Or maybe we will sit in a nice warm diner with friends eating Scrapple while waiting for the snow on the ground to melt. Come on Spring!

Let us pray.

Father in heaven, please bless all those who are here with us on this Saturday morning. Also, we ask that you bless those classmates that could not attend.

Lord, we ask you to comfort and heal all those classmates and teachers who are ill or suffering, in particular our beloved Interboro teacher, Charles Gefrorer who joins us today.

We humbly ask you to give strength and comfort for the family of our classmate Nancy Tilford-Savage who recently joined you in heaven.

Please bless our time together as we share our lives and break bread together. Also, please bless those who are preparing our food and serving us.

We thank you and ask for all of this in the name of your Son, Jesus.

Amen.

P.S. Wir begrüßen Sie zu unserem Frühstück, Herr Gefrorer! Hab ein bisschen Scrapple für mich – Fred
